Community Development

Our Mission: Working to provide decent housing, suitable living environment & expanding economic opportunity, principally for persons of low and moderate income.

The City of Denton Community Development uses citizen input and local service agency guidance to develop and implement programs and projects designed to assist low and moderate-income households and revitalize distressed neighborhoods. Partnerships with local and state organizations are leveraged to support existing programs and fill gaps in the City's service delivery system. Community Development activities are primarily funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership (HOME) programs administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Other sources of funding include City of Denton general funds and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG).
